Title of talk : High dimensional expanders beyond spectral analysis
Abstract:
In the last decade, the theory of high dimensional expanders has emerged and already found a wide variety of applications throughout theoretical computer science.
Some of the results include major breakthroughs in fast mixing of Markov chains and better classical and quantum error correcting codes.
Many of the results are achieved via *very strong* spectral expansion properties that are known to hold ONLY in the very low dimensions of the high dimensional expander.
However, many computational tasks depend on obtaining very strong expansion guarantees throughout ALL the dimensions.
Thus, the question we are facing is how to obtain strong expansion beyond the low levels; and how to go beyond known spectral techniques.
In this thesis we show how to get strong expansion in all levels in some important situations.
In this talk I will explain our novel approaches towards strong expansion beyond spectral arguments and some of their implications.
